Configuring Network Management Card 2 (AP9630) Question(s)

Hello there,

I'm not exactly sure how to go about asking this question, but I will try anyways. The company I work for recently purchased a couple of network cards for some of our UPS's. Each has been correctly installed, but we are having trouble trying to configure the network settings for each.

I ran across another thread that mentioned that APC's new Network Management cards have to be configured differently, which happens to be type/model of network cards we purchased.

Anyways, it mentions choosing a terminal program of our choice to connect to the network card, but it really doesn't mention any steps for how to do that. I don't know if I am missing something simple here, but I thought I would ask.

I have the correct serial cable that is required to connected the network card to another computer and I have it connected properly, but I don't know what to do from there. I know that I have to use a terminal emulation program, but how do I connect to the device or configure the port settings as instructed in the 3061 kb document.

This is all new to me. :s

Thank you.

Brock

Brock W,

To configure this card, you need:
The 940-0299 cable
Hyperterminal or terminal emulation program

To connect:
Open Hyperterminal(For Windows XP: Start-->All Programs-->Accessories-->Communications-->Hyperteminal)
Select appropriate COM port
Use COM port settings: 9600 bps, 8, none, 1, none
At terminal screen, press enter twice. Username and Password = apc
Once at the command line use the tcpip command to set the parameters:
APC> tcpip –i
APC> tcpip –s
APC> tcpip –g
Use the quit or exit command to terminate the connection
Connect the network cable to the Network Card.
Open a web browser and try accessing the IP address.

I hope that this helps. Please let us know if you run through any issues.

Nevermind, I believe I have found my answer. Just have to look harder. 😉

Thanks though. I will probably be back at some point.
