Cannot access PowerChute configuration after install on Solaris 11

I've installed PowerChute 4.1 on my Solaris 11.3 server (using the PowerChute Network Shutdown v4.1 for Solaris SPARC x64 package).  The installation says it completes successfully, but I cannot access the PowerChute URL, as my browser reports connection refused.

Hi,

please attach a copy of the error.log file for review. If installed to the default path you will find the error.log file in

/opt/APC/PowerChute/group1

Hi,

Please follow the step in Kbase FA276327 and let me know if the issue is resolved. If not after restarting the PowerChute service and attempting to log in attach an update copy of error.log.

The issue you are seeing is caused by a mismatched in available threads compared to the number needed. Below is what I found in error.log

09-12-15 16:57:26,666 FATAL Timer-2 com.apcc.m11.components.WebServer.WebServerThread - Start server exception:
java.lang.IllegalStateException: Insufficient max threads in ThreadPool: max=200 < needed=274

The jar file attached to the Kbase corrects the issue.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the response.

The case that you linked to doesn't seem to be accessible, the link just seems to redirect me to the most recently published FAQs.

Yup, the link now works, thanks.

So I have followed the steps and put in the new jar file.  It still does not work, but has a different error message.  I have attached the error log.

Hi,

Ok the web service is starting now. The next issue is

10-12-15 10:32:54,747 FATAL Timer-2 com.apcc.m11.components.WebServer.WebServerThread - Start server exception:
java.io.IOException: Too many open files

PowerChute sets ultimit to 1024  by default in /opt/APC/PowerChute/group1/powerchute.sh

I am thinking to resolve the new issue edit powerchute.sh and change the unlimit -n 1024 to 10000.

Let me know if this resolve the issue.

That did it, changing the line in powerchute.sh now allows me to access the web interface.

Thanks for all the help.
