Can AP9617 network mgt card be installed without interruption to UPS?
Have like 26 APC 3000 series UPS's and need to install these cards.
Can these be "just pushed in" or does the UPS have to be turned off?
Anyone done this "hot" ?
Thanks!
C

Craig,
If you want to install the AP9617 card into the Smart UPS smart slot, then you need to completely switch off the Smart UPS before inserting or removing any SmartSlot card. Unfortunately, you can not install the NMC card without brain dead the Smart UPS.
Please view the below K-base document to know the Instructions for installing or removing a SmartSlot device with a Smart-UPS.
For Matrix UPS , you need to put the Matrix into bypass by the screw on the back. Undo the screw all the way until the front display turns off. Once the display is off, the Matrix is in bypass.
For Smart-UPS RT (SURT models) you need to put the UPS in bypass using the bypass switch on the back of the unit
All Symmetra units have hot swappable SmartSlots, you do not have to alter the state of the UPS to insert and remove accessory cards.

if you understand and read the above documents/information and proceed with hot swapping the cards into the UPSs, most likely the cards will not get damaged - BUT there is a slim chance they could and APC can not be liable for the damage if you don't follow the approve procedure.
