I'm using a SmartUPS 1000XL with battery pack.
When I try to run a calibration, it inevitably comes back as "cancelled" after a while.
The batteries are old - circa 2004. Initiating the calibration shows immediate 47% capacity remaining. Could the age of the batteries cause this problem?

No battery warning (but the unit is silenced as it's in a cubicle farm).
I will ask the boss to finance a couple of batteries for the unit.
(edit: I will try again with lowered sensitivity to line voltage fluctuations)

The quick answer is "yes".
The batteries are not maintaining the load long enough to get a run-time calibration.
Are you not getting any battery warning?
Depending on the environment, 6 years can be a long time for batteries.
