I have a CP75B12 (a unit which outputs 12VDC only, in this case to a Cisco 2431) with a 12v 20Ah battery. The unit has been left disconnected for about nine months, and after plugging it back in overnight, I'm only reading 13.26V from the battery (no load, disconnected from UPS, rested for ~2hrs). IIRC, this is low for a 12V SLA battery, and I'm looking at battery replacement . I don't feel like sinking $60+ into a new 20Ah battery -- but I do have a bunch of new 12V 7Ah SLAs I could use. I'm not concerned about reduced runtime or load capacity -- I'm strictly concerned with electrical safety, overheating, etc. Will I run into any problems subbing the 7Ah for the 20Ah?

Thanks for the followup, R2. I'm sure there's an army of lawyers behind your statement (understandably so!), so I didn't anticipate a statement from APC, official or otherwise, to endorse anything other than the official APC battery designated for this UPS. Still, I was hoping that someone unaffiliated with APC might share their knowledge about this situation.
Anyone?

Hi jeffd, unfortunately we cannot recommend any battery to be used within our UPS (or powershield in your case) besides the type of battery that originally came with the ups. Hope this helps.
