First time posting, but APC Smart UPS customer since 2003. That metal model lasted 14 years, per Schneider Electric records.
In 2015, I purchased an APC Smart-UPS 1500. In 2016, I transferred overseas during which time I did not use the UPS. I pulled the battery plug in the back. When I returned to the US in 2020 and plugged the UPS back in, I received an error that there was not battery. Over a series of days, I left the unit plugged in and allowed the scheduled test to run. Unfortunately, no change. The batter continued to show 0%. One night, I turned off the UPS, but left it plugged in overnight. When I turned it on the next day, it showed a 68% charge. Within the next few hours, it reached 100%. The UPS ran a test and it passed.
My question: If the battery had not passed the UPS test, I would have acquired a new one. Are there any concerns or test I should run? Or, leave it be?
Many thanks

A few weeks ago, we had some rolling blackouts. At the same time, I returned to my desk and found the computer off. I looked at the APC and it showed 100% battery. I didn't figure it out until I was at my desk during one of the blackout. The APC battery percentage dropped quickly and then turned off, dropping the power to my computer. When the power returned, the APC charged up to 60% rather quickly. I came to the conclusion that the battery is done. Ordered a new one (yes, an APC battery) and everything is back to how it should be. Thank you for the support.

Hi Rafael,
The only tests that I would run would be a UPS self test and possibly a battery calibration test. If the battery had not worked replacing it is easy, you'd need the exact model of Smart-UPS, you find that on our website and there is a field on the technical specs called Replacement battery.
