I have many Back-UPS 550 running PowerChute Personal Edition 2.0 on Windows XP workstations. With PowerChute I can run a self-test, I can see the battery replacement date and I can update the battery replacement date. I don't see those features in version 3, which is required for Windows 7 or when I upgrade to v3 on XP. Those seem like pretty valuable features. How they been removed in v3? Is something wrong with my install? Is this specific to this model of UPS?

Unfortunately, if you need that feature/option you would need to revert back to PCPE 2.0 for the Windows XP. For Window 7 and the latest PCPE, this feature will show up if the UPS supports it. With your UPS, it is not available for the latest PCPE.

since we have many Back UPS 550 models/generations, can you provide the specific model number off the white sticker on the back or bottom of the unit. it should be something like BE550G or similar. also, if you can provide the firmware version of the UPS from the about or technical specifications in your PCPE, that might be helpful too. once i know that, I can investigate more. thanks.

Model is BE550G, firmware v843.K2.D
I have an XP system and a Windows 7 system side by side. Windows 7 running PCPE 3.0.2, XP has PCPE 2.0. The PCPE 2.0 shows a battery date and a battery replacement button. There is no self-test; I was mistaken on that. PCPE 3.0 has no battery icon button for battery replacement and no battery date. I have no means of knowing how old the battery is. This is true for PCPE 3.0 on both XP and Win7.
I will be offline until Tuesday. Will follow up then.
