Hello,
I bought a Back-UPS BX1200MI-GR last week. The UPS itself is working and everything is fine, but when I try to connect it to a computer, absolutely nothing happens. No sound, device manager shows no change. I tried with four different computers, with three different cables. What else can I do? Maybe there are some drivers I can install?

Are you having this problem using the supplied APC Power Chute Personal Edition (PCPE) software on a Windows computer?!? PCPE only supports Windows 64 bit OS.
Have you tried using Power Chute Serial Shutdown (PCSS) software instead??
Lastly, it’s important to connect using the supplied USB Data cable from APC. When the software tells you to connect. This is when the USB drivers will be installed on to the system.
Different versions of the Power Chute software the USB Data cable is connected before the software is installed. Whereas others the USB Data cable is connected when prompted to do so.
Basic check list:
- The cable is a USB Data cable and NOT just power.
- PCPE: Can only be installed on a Windows 64 bit OS.
- PCSS: This latest software is also compatible with your UPS.
- USB: Try other ports on the computer system.
- Connect: Insert the USB cable only when prompted to do so. Either before the software is installed or during the installation process.

I have tried both softwares. All four computers are running Windows 10/11 64 bit.
Yes, I used the cable that came with the APC UPS.
I'm an IT specialist, I've tried a lot of different options, but just by connecting the USB to the computer - no reaction occurs. No connection sound, no device manager changes. I am starting to think that the data port itself is not working. Apparently I will have to send it in for warranty.
