Assigning an IP address to AP9619 fails (address in use)

I am trying to assign an IP address to a SURT6000XLI with AP9619 NMC.

The APC Device IP Configuration Wizard finds one card not configured with the correct MAC-address!

When I try to assign an IP with APC Device IP Configuration Wizard I get the message:
The IP address entered (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) is in use, please reenter a new IP address.

Of course, the IP address entered is valid and not in use in my network.

If I try to arp -s from a windows machine i get a "adding ip entry failed: 5"
From a Mac i try the same and get a "Unknown Host" message.

I've tried to reset the card , twice already , with no change.

Any ideas????

I inserted the "administrator paper clip" into the little Reset-hole and pressed it for about 5 sec.
During this, the network LED flashed once a sec and the status LED was not lit .

Afterwards the Status LED is blinking frantically Green and Orange, after some time it changes to a slower pace. Still changing between green and orange.

OK - Update:
After a few more resets, the network card wasn't complaining about a IP in use anymore and seemed accept it.
THe web browser opened after I got the message that it would now connect with standard credentials.

The web browser told me, that no server was found with that address and the Status LED changed to flash orange (once a sec.).
Telnet refused a session with: Operation timed out - Unable to connect to remote host.

I'll keep trying ... as long as I don't get an update or advise....

PLEASE HELP ME πŸ™‚

do you have a serial cable handy?

The procedure you did with the paperclip won't help, it only reboots the card.

Here are what all of the LEDs mean:

The status LED’s (right hand side) will appear as follows:
Off – The card is not receiving power or is in a boot up state.
Solid Green – The card has valid IP settings
Solid Orange – The card has a hardware failure.
Flashing Green – The card does not have valid IP settings.
Flashing Orange – The card is making BootP requests
Alternating Green/Orange –
(Rapidly) The card is booting up.
(Slowly) The card is making a DHCP request.

The Link/RX/TX LED’s (left hand side) will appear as follows:
Off
-The card is not receiving power
-The card does not have a connected network cable
-The device (switch/hub) connected to the Network Management Card is not active.
Solid Green – The card is on a network that communicates at 10mbps.
Solid Orange – The card is on a network that communicates at 100mbps.
Flashing Green – The card is receiving data packets at 10mbps.
Flashing Orange – The card is receiving data packets at 100mbps.

It seems like the card had an IP at some point and then lost it.

We want to get the status LED to remain solid green - which means it has valid IP settings. if you can get the serial cable, we can assign the IP manually.

Can you get the serial cable that came with the UPS? if it is an SURT6000XLT, you should have a DB9 to DB9 cable with the part number of 940-0024 or 940-1524 engraved on a connector - a NON APC cable could turn the UPS off upon attaching so make sure it is the APC cable.

I found the cable, attached it to the UPS and connected it to my redhat linux machine (which has a working serial port πŸ™‚ )

ok, then you want to try and access the card based on the [instructions listed here for local/terminal emulation|http://nam-en.apc.com/cgi-bin/nam_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=3061].
