Apc SMT1500RM2U serial connection with digi cm 16 console server.

Both of these devices use their own version of serial over ethernet, but I am not able to make them communicate. Anyone else have this setup or know what type of cabling I need?

So for the newer SMT/SMX model UPSs and AP9630/31 UPS Network Management Cards, you need to connect a serial cable directly to the 2.5mm Tip Ring Sleeve connector (labeled "console") on the AP9630 UPS Network Management Card itself. I believe you could do it this way and it should work the same:

AP9630 2.5mm console jack connection->2.5mm to DB-9 940-0299 APC NMC2 configuration cable->Digi

How did you have the 1400 connected? You may need a different connection or adapter between the DB-9 end of the 940-0299 and the digi connection, depending how it was before.

The ups has the 9630 card, but I am hoping I can set the ip address of the apc9630 card via the serial port. This is planned for a fleetwide installation that needs to be able to set the ip via software (Linux servers). With our previous model, a 1400, we did that. I guess something has changed.
