Hi all,
I am referring to this post (http://forums.apc.com/spaces/7/ups-management-devices-powerchute-software/forums/general/5701/ups-nm... however before I try this I would like to clarify first.
I have a single server running PCNS connected to a AP9630. I want the server to stay online for as long as possible and only shut down once the UPS has reached it's low battery setting (15 minutes). I want the UPS to power back on after a power outage and reboot the server.
What configuration is needed in both sides? I cannot seem to find a setting in PCNS to sort of "take instruction from the UPS", only timers and whatnot that will schedule a shutdown possibly prematurely if hte UPS still has available run time.
Also, what are the other settings in the AP9630, including "Duration of shutdown" and "End of shutdown".

Hi,
PCNS will start a shutdown automatically when the UPS reaches the low battery setting configured in the NMC. By default, PowerChute will trigger a shutdown sequence if a low battery condition occurs or the UPS is commanded to turn off. Shutdown cannot be disabled for these events using the PowerChute user interface.

This information can be found by clicking on NMC help:
Duration of Shutdown | |
Sleep Time | Defines how long the UPS sleeps (keeps its output power turned off) when you use the "Control" menu "Put UPS To Sleep" option. |
End of Shutdown | |
Minimum Battery Capacity | The minimum battery capacity, as a percentage of full capacity, required in order for the UPS to end its sleep time (or turn back on when rebooted) and resume providing output power. |
Return Delay | Defines how long the UPS waits before it turns on after a shutdown that was caused by a power failure, after a scheduled shutdown, or after a shutdown initiated by a Control command. If the battery is depleted below the percentage configured as "Minimum Battery Capacity", the UPS first waits until the battery is recharged to that minimum capacity. If the battery is depleted below the capacity to provide the runtime configured as "Return Runtime Duration", the UPS first waits until the battery is recharged to the capacity that is able to provide that runtime. |
