I've been using a SmartUPS SUA1000 for a long time. I got the battery replacement warning a couple of weeks ago. Second time I've replaced the batteries - last time was almost 5 years ago. When I put in the new batteries and popped the cover back on, on plugging the UPS back in all LEDS on the front panel lit solid and will not extinguish. No alarms. I can hear the UPS go through its self-test. I added loads gradually and everything is being powered. When I started up by PC I ran PowerChute and it says the self test passed. I ran it again from the Web interface and it passed again. No failures are being reported, but the lights will not extinguish. They are all on. Any idea what this means?

Try performing a brain dead, remove batteries and power, hit start a couple of times to discharge any power left in it then plug it in again.

Is this one of the models with a ribbon cable connecting the faceplate to the interior board(s)? I've seen all sort of odd things happen if that ribbon cable gets damaged.
