Smart-UPS VT 20KVA - no power-on

Hi,

I would like to ask of you an opinion regarding a problem we are having with an unit we received (donated). The unit in question is a Smart-UPS VT 20KVA, and it's problem is that it does not power up when 3PH mains are connected to it. I mean nothing happens, it's like the unit does not receive input power at all. We had some SURT15k  units in the past that powered on and did at least a POST or something when power was applied, but this unit does nothing at all.

Main input source is OK, the manual bypass is working, but the unit does not power on. The unit does not power on on battery either, but since we did not have this kind of unit before, I don't know for sure it should. The batteries are drained slowly however when connected to the unit, so I believe some capacitors are charging.

I suspected some EPO problems, but it seems that it is configured for "+24 V Normally Open" setting, with a bridge between pin 3 and 5 and another one between 4 and 6 on J108. Since we don't have SELV EPO, we left it like that and assumed it  as "Dry Contacts Normally Closed: EPO is activated when a connection from pin 3 to 5 is opened. Connections: 4-6." It did not work. We even attempted changing the EPO mode to "Dry Contacts Normally Open", but still no luck.

If it helps, the unit had and XR battery extension, but we don't use it, as it came without wiring, or the pin adapter for J106. If anyone can provide info regarding the default single unit wiring for J106, assuming there is such a thing, it would be helpful.

Any help is appreciated. Feel free to ask any additional info.

Thanks,

Best regards,

Vlad.

We decided to purchase a spare Power module in the end. However, something is still bugging me.

Can someone shed the light on something for me?

- what purpose does the "Power Supply Unit For Smart-UPS VT PDU - Spare Part" have - part number W0N-0045 . The power supply is located inside the module and has a small recessed button

- what purpose does the small recessed switch/button have, located on the right near the top FAN on the power module? The button is placed on the power supply mentioned above.

Thanks.

Bogdan

Hi Khaled,

Unfortunately we have not resolved the problem, so for the moment we are left with a very expensive paper-weight, since the company from which we acquired the unit (ItInStock from the UK) has stopped responding to our e-mails and phones and are dodging our inquiries requesting warranty info. Most likely we'll have to acquire a new one or at least a new power module.

Anyway I'll keep you posted. Please do the same.

Bogdan
