APC 1000 - installed the console and server software on our primary server but the second server is on another domain with the agent installed but cant access it from the primary.
Is this because its on the wrong domain?
Cheers,
Matt

Hi Matt
PowerChute Business Edition Basic can only auto-discover agents on the same network segment as the Server component. Here is an excerpt from the built-in help in PCBE:
By default, only systems on the Server's local IP segment are discovered. The Basic version of PowerChute can only discover agents on the same network segment as the Server. However with the Deluxe version, you can use the Configure discovery link (below the Discovered Devices section) to access the "Configure Discovery" dialog box.
Perhaps you don't even need to be using the Server and Console components of Business Edition. You can manage those Agents individually via the web interface I showed you in my previous post. Especially if there is only one UPS connected to one computer, the web interface would seem to be your workaround. It can still email you and perform graceful shutdown. That might be your solution given your network structure.

Hi Matt
Domain discussion aside, can the primary server ping the secondary server running the Agent?
Perhaps try to enter this URL into your primary server's web browser, just to prove the agent is running and reachable over the network: http://
You may also want to go through [this kBase article|http://nam-en.apc.com/cgi-bin/nam_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2596] that outlines the various reasons why a PowerChute Business Edition Agent would not properly communicate with the PowerChute Server component.
