I'm in the process of specifying new UPS's along with projecting future battery replacement costs. The SMT1500RM2U apparently uses a new battery design, APCRBC133. Surprisingly, there is virtually NO information on these batteries, anywhere (mostly due to models still under warranty). Is there any info/cost available on these yet? Voltage/AH?

The new APCRBC133 contains *4 pcs. of 12V 9Ah* VRLAs, as in the older RBC24. The battery case (where the batteries are build in) is a newer version of the RBC24-case. There are 6 additional holes in the front of the case for the screws to fix the APCRBC133 with the UPS.
RBC24 and APCRBC133 are *24 Volt battery systems*. Two pairs of batteries in series (24 Volt) and the to pairs parallel to double the capacity.
Another difference: The connector! The older RBC24 uses the Anderson Power SB50 yellow and the newer APCRBC133 uses the yellow Anderson Power SBS50. (But only APC is allowed to order the yellow SBS50 (as the SBS50 in brown for the RBC44).

theres (4), 12v, 9aH batteries in there. UPSs of this size tend to have them wired up in series so that they are 48v systems and float at 55vDC. no pricing info available yet.
