Greetings,
The SMX3000RMLV2UNC in our server room has a odd issue after swapping a dead battery for a new one. Before I swapped it out I noticed the Smart-UPS Display was displaying garbled text, the information on the display was very hard to read. I chalked it up to the faulty battery and went about swapping in the new one. The screen was still garbled and I attempted to set the battery install date but it didn't seem to take.
After letting it charge for 24 hours, I returned to the server room and noticed that the battery fault light was still red, the display did not correct itself and with the new battery installed it is still chirping that it needs a replacement. I attempted a re-seat of the new battery to see if that helped but alas, nothing seems to be correcting the issue.
Has anyone experienced this when swapping out a faulty battery for a new one? I have replaced a battery in this unit twice before with no issues. The unit was purchased in 2013.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Ty -
I do recommend Matt's suggestions, but more likely than not you have a faulty display. If you are using a Network Management card you should be able to do everything you need to do from the web interface even if the LCD display is non functional (assuming the buttons still work ok). The UPS is well out of warranty at this point, but it should still have some life in it, just with limited functionality.
thanks
Liam

Hi Ty
A couple of things worth trying.
1. Braindead the UPS
If that doesn't resolve the problem...
2. Updating the UPS firmware or reflashing it with the current firmware if it is already on the latest may help.
Regards
Matt
