Hello All,
I am using SmartUPS SUA1500i with network management card 9617 connected to the network. I have installed the PCNS Network Shutdown software on my desktop running Windows 2008 Server 64bit. The SAP ECC 6.0 EHP5 w/ Orcale 10.x g server is installed and running in the Windows server environment.
I have the following queries regarding my current setup.
1. In case of a power outage and battery capacity run out , I need a script to safely shutdown the SAP server first and then do the graceful shutdown of the Windows 2008 Server, instead of directly turning off the operating system. Any abnormal shutdown of SAP server almost always results in a massive corruption at the database level and requries a huge effort to restore the database to a previous state, that too if the archive logs are intact and a recent backup is available.
I have read on this site about the availability and validity of my scenario 🙂 however it does not mention the script.

I would be grateful if someone can share any example script so I can get a clue to get the script working in "FlexiEvents" in PowerChute Plus.
2. The second scenario is almost the same except that the SAP ECC 6.0 server is now running inside a (VMWare) virtual machine (running a guest Windows 2008 64bit server on a host Windows 2008 64bit server) executed via VMPLayer/VMWorkstation on the same Windows 2008 64bit server. In case any script is available, how to direct the script to shut down the SAP ECC 6.0 server running inside the Virtual Machine, then shutdown the virtual machine and then shutdown the host Windows 2008 server.
I hope I am able to explain my scenario, for any further queries you are free to reply.
Thanks for the answers.
Cheers.
