Hi
We just purshased 4 APC Smart-UPS 3000VA USB & Serial RM 2U 120V yesterday and I want to manage them.
The 4 of them are install in the same rack mount and are connect with USB to one of my server. I used a USB spliter to get 4 USB port beside of 1.
I installed the 3 software on it : Console/Server/Agent.
After that I created my profile for email alert, etc. When i need to add device, I click "new" and enter : "127.0.0.1". At last, i got only 1 device detected.
Now it's my question : There's a way to add 4 device to manage them on the same server ? Or the only way to manage the 4 of them is to connect eatch one on a different server, install the agent on the 4 server and after add them to the device list ? I hope it's not like that...
And other question : Like i said above, I install Console/Server/Agent on the same server and the 4 UPS are connect to this server. I also installed the Console on my personnal computer.
Personnal computer name : groyer
Server name : voute
When i got on the console on the server, on the status page, the device hostname is : voute.sh.cima.plus
And now on my personnal computer : groyer.sh.cima.plus
I dont understand... Why the device name change like that... It's not logical for me sorry...
Can someone help me ? Thx |

Each UPS can only go to One machine , unless you have a dual PS machine that can go to two diff. UPS's, and at that point you'd install PowerChute Network Shutdown and purchase a Network Management Card.
For this, you're going to need a different machine monitoring each UPS if you're using USB and PowerChute Business Edition.
