Dear Sir,
I have an SUA 2200 tower type, preferably of the 99 model.... took it secondhand..after all its APC... so now the problem is that despite the new battery and all perfect line voltage in the UPS just revs up for a moment an then switches off.... I checked the boards, there was a resistor burnt... I will attach the foto in my next message, the problem still there... I haven't checked the other components since the circuit diagram of the UPS is not there...so as a special request would like some one from here to please provide me the same so I can work on it.... I am familiar with the service aspects having been broadcast service equipment tech so it shouldn't be a problem if any of you can extend the help to me so I can work on it...I will be really grateful Sir...
Many Thanks,
Karkera

Dear Battman,
Have checked caps after removal from boards, the values are varying too much nearly 50% variations,
seen, so have replaced with good ones., (dont want to take a chance on this...!) I am sure such value degradation may not affect too much..but lets see whats the outcome...unfortunately i tries for the ESR METER its not available this side and the sorce seems to be also unreliable so i cannot risk anything..
So far C101 (2.2mfd), C113, C31 and C 53 (all 4.7mfd, 275VAC) which was seemingly degraded have replaced them, also electrolytic caps C100, C115, C159 (22MFD, 25V) have bèn replaced also IC18 HIP 40821B and IC 25 CD40106 replaced.. still doing the cold check...
Can someone tell me the ohmic resistances of 2 transformers 223 and 224 both primary and secondary value...dont have the ring tester ( !) with me...
What about the need of powerchut software...?????
With Regards,
karkera

If anyone else wants to chime in or provide details, they are welcome to and you can use them at your own risk.
Though, APC schematics are proprietary and APC cannot provide them here.

Dear Angela,
Please help i am using exclusively for my unit only and this being an old one and was working well so quite attached to this .... thus i request help for schematics... would be grateful... else mail me karkeravsk@gmail.com. ...
Many many thanks

Hi Karkera,
I understand the dilemma but I cannot send these or post as it is against company policy. You can try other sources, i.e. the internet but here is our policy on this -> Are schematics available for APC product? | FAQs | US

The 2200 ups (SU2200) has/had a common failure of one or two resistors on the main board (they ran hot)....that could be related to your problem, maybe not. There are some repair notes on this forum, some elsewhere on the old Interweb.

Unfortunately I do not have an SUA2200 main circuit board to check this for you. If you post the part # of your board perhaps someone else can help you out. Good luck !

Dear Battman Sir,
Meanwhile I am doing the cold check of the components of the board, have found many of the caps on the AC LINE side having a vast variations in values perhaps due to ageing problems... will try to replace with same matching components from a known source, and further the IC HIP 40821B seems to be defective (maybe) looks like heated up....have a spare one with me... and also thre is an IC 361-0025V2 manufacturer ON Semiconductor whose data sheet is not available ..perhaps made exclusively for APC (??????)?
I am posting the foto of the board numbers... perhaps someone can help me through... also nèed the powerchute software... ofcourse would draw attention of Angela madam to this.. if she can guide me through as far as software is concerned. .also the cable configuration seems diferent than the normal one Rx - Tx pins are different (???)...8
With regards,
karkera

If you are checking capacitors, you will not get accurate readings of the capacitance unless they are completely removed ( unsoldered ) from the board. Capacitor tolerances can sometimes be very wide, eg + or - 20 % on the value - unlike resistors which can be +/- 5% or better. Most importantly though, it is best to measure "ESR" (Equivalent Series Resistance) to determine the health of a capacitor....that requires a special test meter. Eg google for "Blue ESR tester". Have you carefully checked visually the IGBTs that are mounted on the four large heat sinks to see if any have exploded or are burnt ? That is a common failure symptom of these ups....the circuit board traces around them may be damaged as well. When they blow (short circuit internally) they usually damage other components on the board as well because of overcurrent....such as the burned resistor you have that could be related.
