I have a used APC AP9617 NMC card. I'm trying to reset the password of the previous user by pressing the reset button on the back once and when the LED on the right is flashing green/orange press a second time.
After that I'm trying to telnet to the card. I get a Username and Password prompt and enter apc/apc. This isn't accepted. I've also tried apc/device, device/apc and device/device. Unfortunately this isn't working either.
I'm using a APC Smart-UPS 1500 RM 2u usb & serial w/o LCD.

I received the cable. It works perfect. I was able to reset the password and log in to the web console.

Hi Ard-Jan,
You can not use telnet to reset the password. You have to use the local console cable to do so and use the serial option in putty/hyper terminal to then log in. Step by step instructions are below. It sounds like you are doing everything else correct though with the reset button sequence.

My NMC has only a RJ45 port. My UPS though has a serial port.
I have a serial cable around here but not original APC. Does this matter?
I have also tried to login on the webinterface after the reset. This isn't working either.
Btw this the sku number of my UPS: SUA1500RMI2U.

Unfortunately it is a proprietary pinout on the apc serial port, so you will need and APC serial cable. You can search google and you should be able to find the pinout, however this is not recommended.
