I had a battery leak inside a 1400. I'm also experiencing power problems in and around the outlet that it was connected to (no power). I checked all the basics, but other outlets on the circuit still work. Could the leaking have caused this to happen? I'm pretty certain i wlil replace the UPS anyway.

Hi Jason,
As far as I can tell, if this is an old unit, could be the electronic devices inside the unit are already worn out. If the unit has encountered some kind of bad power that caused it to self sacrifice and damage the circuitry of the unit, being the reason for it to malfunction. But if a customer have experienced leaking battery inside the unit, usually we don't recommend them to use it anymore.

Hi Jason,
Have you ever replaced the battery of that unit? Was it a genuine APC battery? What is the serial number of the unit?... There are lots of possibility that could contribute on why would the outlets won't work on a unit. But, personally, I haven't experienced that an outlet will not work because there is a leaking battery.

I have replaced the battery on it once before. this battery lasted about 5 years though. it was not a geniune battery. I don't have access to the serial number at this time since i'm traveling. I also have never experienced a unit affecting an outlet, but i'm wondering if there might have been some malfunction that shorted out some wiring...it had worked fine up until now.
Thanks.
