Yes, I recommend trying this upgrade via BootMonitor mode to resolve. Do bootmonitor .bin file first, then AOS bin file, and then the application .bin file (whatever it may be - sumx, sy, etc). The instruction details Terry linked should be helpful for via BootMonitor/XMODEM on NMC2.

The directory where you unpacked the firmware update should contain 3 .bin files - the bootmon, aos, and app (which will have different names depending on what device the firmware is intended for).

FTP to the card, make sure you're in binary mode, and do a "put" of the bootmon file. Disconnect and the NMC should reboot. After it reboots, FTP to it again, also in binary mode, and "put" the aos file. Disconnect and wait for the reboot. Repeat with the app file.

That's what I tried beside windows update tool, too.

It doesn't matter which file I use. I get round about 20 hashes (every time the exactly same length) and after a few minutes I get a timeout and the NMC is rebooting.

I have read about AP9630 and that there was a charge which could not be updated. Wrong flash bit set or something else?

I sill formated the NMC and tried to update manually with linux and ftp on console. bin and passive or active.

The upgrade issue was for cards produced for a few weeks in 2010. Yours seems to be from late 2012.

You could try one of the other upgrade methods (USB or serial XMODEM) mentioned in FA156047. Note that that article is a generic one for 3 generations of NMC. Make sure you are following the instructions for the AP9630/1.
