AP9631 keeps rebooting after a firmware upgrade.

Hi,

I have a nework management card AP9631 on MGE Galaxy 3500 which reboots every 7-8 minutes after a firmware upgrade to UPS NMC v6.1.1.

Network settings (default gateway) is valid.

What's wrong?

Hi,

We upgraded from version 5.1.7 to v6.1.1.

Here are logs without network cable before format (i removed cable in 9:20 and did the pinhole reset)...

...and with cable after format.

P.S. hmmmmm.... I've update files in .txt format and don't know, why they are posted in .zip.

Hmm, interesting. And thank you for all of the log files again.

And I think the forum automatically compresses any files and puts them in .zip so its not you smile

So, yes, I see that you formatted, you did not do any configurations (which is what we want) and it still does it! cry We could also try to power cycle the NMC but I don't think it will fix it.

I have a few ideas and steps assuming no change after you power cycle (or just pull out the card for 10 seconds and put it back in the UPS).

  1. Downgrade to 5.1.7 for 'kicks' and see if it behaves normally. I can provide the files if required. After you do downgrade, you should do another format to ensure integrity of the system. If it does work, let me know (depending on why you upgraded in the first place) if staying at 5.1.7 until our next release comes out is feasible.
  2. Try the card in a different UPS, if you have one available.
  3. I discuss with you offline the potential of trying a beta firmware release, which the final version is tentatively scheduled towards the end of July (but could change) and see what happens. In order to do this though, some paperwork is required..
  4. If none of this works and we don't get anywhere and it doesn't appear UPS or firmware related, the card may need to be replaced.

Thoughts?

Hmm... cunningforum.

1. AOS Downgrade not allowed: 611-->517

2. In Smart-UPS 700 card is notreloaded.

Sorry, you'll need to the downgrade manually via FTP, SCP, or XMODEM. The wizard blocks a downgrade as you can see (but we are changing that in the future).

Upgrade (and downgrade) instructions for those methods are here -> How do I upgrade the firmware on an APC Network Management Card? | FAQs | Schneider Electric US

Can I clarify what you mean about "card is not reloaded?" Do you mean the rebooting does not occur and the card acts normally?

In Smart-UPS 700 the rebooting does not occur and the card acts normally.

After downgrade firmware to v5.1.7 the rebooting does not occur.

Hmm, OK. How do you want to proceed? I don't know if you have another NMC to try @ 6.1.1 in the G3500 but if I had my way, that is what I would do next to see if it always points to this UPS or the NMC.

Can you stay on 5.1.7 until the next release (tentatively in a few months) or do you want to pursue other options involving beta software and the paper work (beta test sheet, etc) that will come along with that? We can at least see if the newer firmware revision behaves any differently in this UPS. I am not sure if you were upgrading to take advantage of a particular feature or just to stay up to date.
