AP9630 - The Application Was Not Able to Load

Hello

I'im stuck with the web server message "The Application Was Not Able to Load".

The AP9630 card is inserted into a Smart-UPS 2200 (SRT2200XLI). This AP9630 was inserted into other UPS with the same problem as long as I remember.

Prior to this message using firmware 6.9.6 it was a slightliy different message "Application is not compatible with the AOS".

I can connect using COM3 or SSH without any problem.

NMC firmware Update Utility don't work:

- FTP "Could not retreive cofiguration configuration file via this method, please recheck settings"

- SCP "Resume not supporter for SCP transfers"

I tried without success:

resetToDef โ€“p keepip

format

I put files using ftp commands. I was able to upgrade to 7.0.4 but the Stat is still: P+ N4+ N6+ A-

Here's the about command :

E000: Success

APC Boot Monitor

What can I do ?

Thanks,

Vincent

this worked for me 6.6.4 firmware upgrade to new 7.0.4 firmware broke network management card application

downgrade to old v5.x firmware using apc firmware update utility 1 which uses FTP, then upgrade to latest firmware using apc firmware update utility 2

Hi Vincent

This could look like an issue caused by the application module not being loaded correctly during a firmware upgrade.

My best guess here would be to try doing the upgrade manually, as detailed in the FTP/SCP section of this document:

-> https://www.apc.com/ie/en/faqs/FA156047/

You might be able to just skip the bootmon and AOS and jump straight to the APP, but for good measure I would go by the numbers and refresh all 3.

Best regards

Tonny

Hello,

This AP9630 card don't have an USB port ๐Ÿ˜ž

I'm unable to access the BootMonitor. I have the green/orange LED blinking quickly but using TeraTerm with 57600/8bits/none/1bit show nothing. Did I do something wrong ?.

Hello Vincent

The console/serial port on this card is the mini jack port, and to use it, you Will need the console cable that came with the card originally.

That being said, I gathered from the information you gave in your previous post, that you have FTP access to the card?

If so, I still suggest following the procedure for using FTP to upgrade the firmware, as detailed in the link from my previous post.

Best regards

Tonny

Can't seem to be able to follow this solution - would anyone have a word of wisdom for me?

AP9630 NMC with 5.0.3 firmware on SUA1500RM2U UPS. Attempted to use "Network Management Card v7.0.8 Firmware Executable for Smart-UPS with AP9630/31" to upgrade the firmware, got "unable to update", and then the web UI wouldn't open:

Error: The application was not able to load.

It seems that from here I need to manually FTP either the 5.x or 6.x firmware to the NMC and upgrade it that way (still unclear how, exactly). The question is, where do I get 5.x or 6.x firmware? I've tried looking, and all I can see are 7.04 and 7.08 firmware versions.

Thanks!

OK, my bad - found it (the firmware): Network Management Card 2 (NMC2) Firmware v6.6.4 Firmware for Smart UPS with AP9630/31/35 and Associ.... Will now try to update it.

... and... that worked! (Didn't even have to FTP into it - the utility did it straight up over the network. The configuration was mostly retained - but did have to redo SNMP strings.)

Is it safe to update to 7.08 now?

I had the same error message in browser and also UpdateUtility2 couldn't connect. So I updated 712 aos and sumx bin's as well as 109 bootmon via serial connection (57600 Baud; XMODEM). The problems stood the same. I reconnected via serial port in terminal mode (9600 Baud; user and password 'apc'). After forced password change (requirement in new OS) I did 'about' command. AOS and bootmon were ok but "Application Module --- Invalid Module Header!" Seems there was/is an update problem. Last idea was to connect via FTP. I activated via command "ftp -S enable". UpdateUtility2 still couldn't connect, but WinSCP could. I transferred apc_hw05_sumx_712.bin to the default connected (/root) folder. The file wasn't visible after upload but 'about' showed "Application Module --- Name: sumx Version: v7.1.2". Web interface then worked.
