I have recently acquired a AP9619 NMC that does not respond to the typical password reset protocol. I can access the card using "device" username and "apc" password. However, I cannot log in as administrator as "apc" username seems to have unknown password. The NMC does not respond to hyperterminal serial access, so I cannot use the reset port on the card to reset to apc/apc log in. I've tried to upgrade the firmware using ftp with the device/apc login, but it did not work.
Is there an alternate username/password reset procedure that I can try?

I changed the password on my AP9619 this morning and now can't log in. 😫 Does it matter which letter is behind the 940-0024 part number? I see 940-0024 with different letters behind it like C, D, and E.
Thanks

Hi Mark,
For this card, you will need serial access. There is no way to reset anything without gaining serial access.
Can you let me know how you connected serially? Do you have an APC serial cable? What were the port settings you used? Or was the issue you don't have the serial cable? Once you had serial access, then you'd need to use the pinhole reset button and press it in the certain manner to allow the administrator credentials to be reset back to apc/apc temporarily as explained here -> http://www.apc.com/support/index?page=content&country=ITB〈=en&locale=en_US&id=FA156075
Depending on the specifics of where the trouble is, you'd want to make sure the reset button is intact and actually working as part of the procedure.

I have recently reset similar cards (NMC1's) with the same SU5000 and the proprietary cable at 2400B. This is the only card that I've had problems with. The "reset" does cause the LEDs to flash as described. I think it must be a problem getting the serial interface to work properly. Is it possible this card needs a different baud setting? I can get you the aos and sumx file versions if needed?

Hi Mark,
If you suspect it is the serial connection, can you try a different UPS and/or PC to rule those out? And we have a few proprietary cables so I'd just verify it is the 940-0024/1524 cable to make sure maybe you didn't grab the incorrect part number. I also would just double check you don't have SCROLL LOCK stuck on your keyboard as that catches some people once in a while.
You can indeed try different baud rates if someone changed it on you. Here is an article that covers this topic and mentions the valid baud rates -> http://www.apc.com/support/index?page=content&country=ITB〈=en&locale=en_US&id=FA156126
At least you know the card itself seems OK if you could pinpoint the issue with the serial connection.

Worked at 9600 baud. Was able to reset password. FAQ page was helpful also,
Thanks, Mark
