AP9610 I/O module change on Smart SURT3000RMXLI
Hello,
One of the outputs of the AP9610 I/O module seems to be broken. It is going open circuit to indicate that the UPS is on self test or that it is on battery(no mains), but the front panel is as normal, and there is mains to it!
I am changing the AP9610 card with a spare that I have.
My question is this. Can I take out the AP9610 when the UPS is on? If not, can I take it out and change it when the UPS is off BUT the batteries are still connected?

Hello,
It actually depends on the unit your using as to whether the slot is hot swappable or not.
If you are using a Smart UPS unit then you need to power the unit down fully ( you can leave the batteries connected) in order to replace the card without the risk of damage/corruption. Before you put a new card in you'll want to unplug the unit from the wall, and hold the off button for 15 seconds. This will reset the unit and prepare it to communicate with the new card.
If you have a Smart UPS RT model, then you can replace the card as long as the unit is in bypass.
If the card is in a Symmetra unit then those are hot swappable, and you can do it while the unit is live.
