Hi, I've picked up a used AP9606 inside an AP9212, although it looks like the 9606 is continously resetting. I've obtained the IP address and pinging it results in 2 or 3 answers then it times out for about 15 seconds before starting again. I can see the status light come on, go off for a bit and the come back on again as though the unit is crashing and restarting. The same thing happens using a serial cable, I can log in but half way through the menu display it resets.
Using the serial cable and increasing the baud rate to 19200, I managed to login, and do reset to factory defaults , which seemed to fix the problem in that the board didn't restart once the factory defaults were restored. Although now when I power cycled the device I can't connect using any method. The status light shows it is using bootp to find an address, but no packets seem to come out of it.
Is it completely dead or are there anything else I can try?
Also, in terms of an AP9212 can I substitute other management cards such as the AP9617?
Thanks

Officially, you cannot. There exists a possibility of a load drop.
Unofficially, I've done it almost every day repeatedly for the last three years without a problem.

I would try using the serial cable at 2400 baud again. If it has a reset button, I'd give that a shot too.

Cheers, I'll give that a go in a UPS when I'm next in the office, but suspect it is dead as I've tried the default baud rate (2400) with no joy and sniffing the network interface shows no traffic at all...
