Hello,
I hope that someone here can help save this device.
With multiple Smart APCs and Netbotz I got confused and flashed the wrong IP Netbotz firmware. I immediate stopped the update from happening midway and bricked the device.
Using the proper cable, I am finally able to login to the console. The one with the headset pin APC 940-0299A 2.5mm to serial DB9 Female Console Cable is the proper cable.
Now I am able to see the directory tree but I can't use Xmodem. I used teraterm "Kermit" to transfer the bin files in order but to no avail. All its doing is printing garbled info on the terminal. When the upload is complete there is no .bin file in the root directory.
I tried FTP client after setting up an Static IP address -i 192.168.1.100, -s 255.255.255.0, - g 192.168.1.1. When I type tcpip I do see the proper address and as a result I can ping it from a LAN computer as well as from the console.
What I can't do is get these files either FTP or directly attached with the console. FTP won't let me even connect with APC APC and it seem the same with teraterm. Does APC user even allow this? Just keeps doing nothing.
I'm using an old school computer with a fresh windows 10 no updates.
I'm at a loss and need help.
Thanks
Mike

Ok, I got fed up with the old school windows computer and went to an updated rarely used Windows 11 computer. Pinged my APC so we could talk to the unit then tried FTP. This time the FTP worked!!! Holy cow windows 11 worked even though Ubuntu dual boot is my flavor. Just make sure you cd into the directory where the .bin file is. run cmd as admin then cd to your file. This was so fast I couldn't believe it. It took me hours using teraterm kermit but got me at least here. She was dead nothing and I brought her back to life. I hope this helps someone who got kicked in the Nuts a few times as this was a challenge to fix. here's the link I followed https://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA156047/#FTP

ok so super user is not "sudo."
Figured that out when I created a user "mike" with administrator permissions. (see attached pic)
then I just checked "users" to see my proper permissions.
That problem is solved but now I have another. I checked my good working APC for differences and boy did I find a problem.
here's where everything is wrong:
Apc Boot Monitor = v1.0.9 which is correct
Apc AOS = v 7.0.8 which is correct
Application Module list Apc AOS bin firmware v 7.0.8 which is incorrect.
Why do I have the application module listed as AOS? I already have that and now I have that twice!
Order of operations is wrong now what? I'm definitely not going to delete the apc_hw05_aos_708.bin.
I'm just trying to push via kermit apc_hw05_sumx_708.bin file for the application module.
I'm stuck deeper. I better stop and wait for help.
