We are trying to upgrade the firmware on one of our AP7802 PDUs using the update utility where it keeps failing. We have tried using both FTP and SCP with the same result.
Any guidance on how to get past this would be much appreciated!
Logging in the Update utility shows;
Unable to update device [IP] with boot monitor, stopping all further processing of this device!
Uploading firmware file 1 of 3: Boot Monitor to [IP], please wait.
Logging on the PDU shows:

Have you tried using the Windows based APC Configuration Wizard? You may have better luck going that route.
It should be noted you have a 50/50 chance of bricking the PDU while trying to upgrade the firmware. Firmware should be done while on the phone with APC Technical Support when possible.
Given the PDU is EOL and out of warranty the risks are that much higher. You should fully understand and have an exit / recovery strategy in place should the PDU be damaged or bricked. ☝️
A hot spare should be on site and ready to deploy if things go south. Fully understand the recovery procedure as outlined by the APC FAQ.
Let us know how using the Configuration Wizard pans out. 👍

Yeah - we were using the Windows based updater tool. We have two of these; same model and hardware revision - One updated with no problem and this other one has been failing the update over and over.
That is good advice though. I think we'll just put this update on the shelf for now being it does work as is, minus what the update would bring to it.

As an aside in some instances hard resetting the device to a out of the box state helped update the firmware.
Regardless, updating firmware on any APC Branded hardware is a serious risk. 🤦♂️
