Which cable for ATV71 programming

which type of cable do I need for programming ATV71?

Several possibilities are possible for programming ATV :

• Through keypad, directly connected to Drive itself
• Through SoMove, the freeware to be downloaded with also the ATV71 DTM, in this case you can use a simple Ethernet cable or it is also possible through the cable reference TCSMCNAM3M002P.

I tried connecting with normal ethernet cable, but without luck.

On ATV71 it says "modbus/CANopen". That workd with normal ethernet cable?

What am I doing wrong, that I have problem with

 

connection.

Hi, Normal ethernet cable did only work if your ATV71 drive is adapted with an Ethernet Communication card. The port on the picture is the Modbus RTU (RS485) Can Port. It use a RJ45 connector, but is not Ethernet. You could use the cable TCSMCNAM3M002P. You could also try an alternative USB/RS485 adapter to connect. The RS485 is on pin4 and pin5 of the RJ45 connector. To use the dedicated cable is mostly the fastes and easiest way.

Hi

The recommended cable for programming via Somove for the ATV71 is the TCSMCNAM3M002P.

The ATV71 has native Modbus RTU and CanOpen.

To be able to parameterize by Ethernet, the drive must have an optional MOdbus TCP/Ethernet IP board. In other words, it is not possible to commission using Somove via an Ethernet cable natively, the drive must be using an Ethernet board for this (e.g. VW3A3310D, VW3A3316).

The recommended cable would be the TCSMCNAM3M002P to use the drive's native Modbus RTU communication.

PS: It should also be possible to use a USB Can converter such as PCAN-USB adapter, but as I said, we recommend using the TCSMCNAM3M002P for drives that do not have an optional Ethernet board.

Thank you. It works with TCSMCNAM3M002P cable. I was confused because in manual and our dealer said that I can use normal ethernet cable. Probably he didn't know that ATV71 has different connection types.
