Noise in motor when flux is active (FLU) at motor stop
I have an Altivar 58F drive on a beam saw, with flux being held active via the AI3 input. When the motor stops between cuts to load the next wood panel, FLU (fluxing) stays on and the motor hums like leaking air—even though there’s no air source nearby, so it’s purely electrical. I’ve tried disabling fluxing, but that removes the holding torque and forces re‑calibration at every stop; I’ve attempted DC injection braking instead, but the same noise persists; I’ve even swapped in a second VFD and tried on another similar motor along with a new cable, made sure the earth wire is connected, yet nothing has resolved the issue. How can I eliminate this noise while ensuring the motor remains locked in position at stop?
