ATV 71 Fail to read values via Modbus RTU
Hello everyone,
I'm trying to integrate a ATV71 VSD in Power Monitoring Expert 2021.
I wrote a device type following the modbus register list.
However the values are either 0 or not valid everywhere when the VSD is running.
Attached are screenshots of the Driver, the PME-Diagram and a register reading of the "Mains Voltage" with Modscan
I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong, as i'm not really an expert in the commissioning of the ATV devices.
Hope I can get some help with that.
Best Regards!!
Zakaria Rhaouch

Hi on which way did you talk to the VSD? Modbus RTU or TCP?
Plaese check if you need a offset vor the variables.
Regardign to Modbus some devices start as register address 0 other on register address 1.
Unfortunatly some SE proucts use 0 other 1.
Regarding to this topic you could have an offset on the addresses.
best regards
Bastian

Hi @Bastian_Schmitz ,
I talk to the VSD via Modbus RTU.
I don't quite understand what you mean by the offset.
Kind Regards

Hi Zakaria,
Some Modbus devices start at modbus register address 0 some at address 1
If the power expert start at 0 and the ATV start at 1 you need to use an offset.
THe ATV71 start at 0 so far I see https://www.se.com/ww/en/download/document/1755863/ (page 29).
Maybe you can configure at Power Expert regarding to the modbus driver if he start at 0 or 1.
If the driver of Power control epert only support 1 you need to add to every register address +1
best regards
Bastian

Hi Bastian,
Thanks for the Tip!
Power Monitoring Expert starts with 1 and cannot be configured to start with 0.
I already considered this when I wrote the driver. (Address +1)
I tried to check all the registers, it seems that it's not the issue.
Kind Regards!

Hi,
Did I understand your first post correct that you are also not able to read back correct values via an additional modbus tool?
Did you check the Baudrate, the frame setting and the Modbus address of the VSD? In default the modbus RTU adress on ATV71 is deactivated, and the other factory settings are 19.200 baud and 8E1 as frame setting.

Hi,
Yes I tried using an additional modbus tool, just to double check if the issue was in the driver I wrote for Power Monitoring Expert.
I didn't check the settings no, but I think if one of these Modbus Settings is not okay, I would not get to see any values in the first place. (even if they are not valid). Isn't that the case?
