Smartconnector License issues

Good Day,

 

We have a smartconnector 2.2 comercially licensed service running on a client server that is setup as a restful gateway so the clinet can extract data and values from EBO to several other thrid party services they have.

 

We have recently been having issues with the license where, if we dont have a developers 'demo' license added, the endpoint simply will not start. In fact as soon as you click on setup to start the endpoint it gives you an error that no valid license is found.

 

I have recently sent the below mail to product support but they advised that i post my question on the forum (i have also attached the log from the day the simmulation was done:

Thanks for reaching out.

 

Below I have some screen shots with some explanations. I have also attached the smartconnector log.

 

 

The screen shot below shows an activated commercial licence (top) and a developer license (bottom) I have added so the service can continue working while the issue is resolved.

I then remove the developer license to simulate the issue:

As soon as I try to start the endpoint I get this error:

I then have to load another developer license so I can start the Restful endpoint. Below is a screen shot of the version we are currently running. Please let me know if there is any further info I can provide to help troubleshoot?

Hi,

 

Sorry for the delayed response.. I typically get emails when a new post is started, but I didn't this time...

 

Likely what happened is that your Machine Thumbprint changed, back in 2.2 there were some issues where if there was a USB key in your PC when you recorded your Machine Thumbprint, your machine thumbprint would change when the USB key was removed, and the license would stop working. The same would happen if you were connected to wifi when your Machine Thumbrint was recorded and switched to hard-wired internet.

 

I would recommend updating your installation to 2.4 where these license issues have been fixed. (along with some addtional fixed for stuff in the REST Gateway.

 

You should be able to to an upgrade in place for the install after grabbing the newest installer (2.4.17 as of the writting of this message), but you will need to download a new Commercial License for 2.4 (don't worry no cost to you).

Hi Jeff.

 

Thanks for the feedback and recommendation. I am going to give 2.4 a shot.

 

The server is virtual and im pretty sure they never had a USB plugged into it or Wifi connections, regardless hopefully 2.4 will resolve the issue.

 

 

UPDATE: Hi Jeff, thanks again for your recommendation. It took some time to get permission to do the upgrade but i finally managed to do it tonight and it seems to be working. Once i upgaded to 2.4 and tried to log on it asked me for a license so used the same order number i had before to generate a new license and all seems to be working now. Thanks again.
