Next question: It doesn't seem to create a database. I have a SQL Server on my machine, but the installer runs through and reports that it is complete, but no new database is created and the service wont start. Any ideas?

Hi Steve,
This does happen, that is because our installer isn't very smart (its in the backlog to improve..).
I would check to make sure that you credentials for your DB was correct. (are you using SQL user creds or windows?).

Tried it every which way. I can create a local ODBC connection to the database using the 'sa' account. When I try to connect with that account it reports:
Error 1923. Service SmartConnectorService (SmartConnectorService) could not be installed. Verify that you have sufficient priviliges to install system services.
If I put in a bad SQL Server name, it will go on it's merry way and install the service, but the services crashes (no db). If I point it to a legitimate SQL Server, it give the error. So...I'm pretty confident that the error is in the DB connection. The fact that I can connect with the ODBC client makes me think that it is not a permissions issues.
I'm logged onto a domain, but my domain account is in the local machine Administrators group.

I tried installing it as the local machine administrator account directly and that worked.
