Is it possible to to request values to be in a specific Unit (metric or imperial) via the Rest/Soap endpoints?

Perhaps something in the SmartConnector or endpoint configuration, or request query?  We have some cases where we would like to override the user default units.

The short answer is "no". 

The backing server serves up the values in the units it determines.  SmartConnector adds no intelligence in this and any conversions are the responsibility of the client.
