What are Status codes 1 and 2 in the MB_IP_MASTER / MB_SERIAL_MASTER functions?

I have a SCADAPack 474 which has been configured with polling as per the SE Community example. However, I have noticed that I am sometimes getting Status Code 1 or 2 - neither of these are listed in the Logic Editor help files.

What do these Status Codes relate to?

Hi again Scott,

My apologies for the incomplete response. I forgot to mention that you can get help even in Logic Editor for SCADAPack-specific function blocks. You won't find that help in the Logic Editor manual, as it's written & controlled by a different team. But there is always the "Help on Type" feature, as you've mentioned. Thanks for that reminder.

I've talked again with our RemoteConnect experts and they cannot understand how you might be seeing a status code 1 or 2. I've been told it's not that the documentation is incomplete, rather that those codes should simply never appear. As I mentioned in my previous message, they'd really like to get a copy of your application to analyze, see what's going on. That's the best path forward at this point.

Hello Scott,

These function blocks are specific to the SCADAPack, they're not general Control Expert (Logic Editor) function blocks. So the help for them is in the RemoteConnect documentation, not the Logic Editor documentation. Here's how to find it:

- Open RemoteConnect, and select the Help (?) menu item

- Select the Logic Programming Manuals

- Open SCADAPack Function Blocks Technical Reference

- Open the Modbus Function Blocks section

- The two FB's in question are documented here

- In the Output parameter descriptions you'll find STATUS

- In the description a status of -1 indicates the request is in progress. (note it's a negative 1)

However, having written all that, the table of status codes does not include either 1 or 2. I can't tell you what those codes mean. I suggest you save your project as an RCZ archive file then send it to our Tech Support team so they can have a look.

Hi Joel,

Sorry, but that's not really a helpful answer, and also incorrect. I am including the below for any who fces a similar issue in the future...

The Help file for these (and all built-in Logic Editor blocks) are available through Logic Editor as follows:-

Click Tools > Types Library Browser.

In the Types Library Browser window, in the Name box, enter the function name (* wildcard allowed), e.g. mb_ip* will return MB_IP_MASTER.

Right-click on the function in question and select Help On Type. A new window will open with the relevant Help HTML file loaded.
(These are actually HTMLs version of the relevant Remote Connect help file, but often more useful since they contain, in this example, the Status Codes embedded and not linked out to a separate pages.)

I did spot the -1 PENDING status and my graphics already cover that as a message; my point was that the Help literature (both in Remote Connect and Logic Editor) are missing Status Code information 1 and 2 that I know of. It then raises the question of what other codes may also be missing?

Ultimately, the help literature is incomplete and needs to be updated.
