SCADAPack 330E won't communicate with Configurator "IIN bits set"

Hi People,

I have a 330E that has been sitting on a shelf for a few years (previously working), and have recently re-installed SCADAPack E Configurator (and Workbench) to a new windows 10 laptop.

When trying a USB connection (Refresh button from Controller Status page), I'm getting a modal dialog box error :

"Request: Page Read Request"

"Status: DNP Status: Function code not supported (IIN bits set)

The configuration diagnostics then have a few messages (pasted below).

I've tried Cold Boot Mode and Factory Boot Mode without any improvement.  Any ideas?

<+++ Master 32000 Build DNP3 Message: Table Read

<+++ Master 32000 Insert request in queue: Table Read

<=== Master 32000 Application Header, Read Request
FIR(1) FIN(1) CON(0) UNS(0) SEQ# 4

===> Master 32000 Application Header, Response
FIR(1) FIN(1) CON(0) UNS(0) SEQ# 4

+++> Master 32000 Process response to request: Table Read

===> Master 32000 IIN Bits:
IIN1.6 Device Trouble
IIN2.5 Configuration Corrupt
IIN2.0 Function Code Not Implemented

The issue was resolved by a more recent SCADAPack E Configurator (the download / configuration software) supplied by Schneider.

It appears the SCADAPack Firmware was too new for the older loader software.

Hi Andrew,

You may want to start with a factory boot. The procedure is described in the SCADAPack 330 Reference Manual (available from SCADAPack E Configurator "Help"), but the process is simple.

- Remove power from the RTU

- Press and hold the white button

- Apply power to the RTU

- Keep holding the button and watch the STAT LED. It'll start flashing, then stop again. After it is on continuously, let go of the button.

- Wait a minute for the RTU to reboot

If a factory boot doesn't work, you may want to contact our Australian support team for faster assistance. Here's a link to the support contact page, which includes both a form you can fill out, and below that a contact phone number. Make sure you tell them the version of SCADAPack E Configurator and the exact SCADAPack model. They may ask for the firmware version, but as you can't communicate with the RTU you may not be able to provide that.

NOTE: After some years of sitting idle, the RTU's RAM backup battery may be weak or dead. We suggest you purchase a replacement through normal channels and replace the battery. Part number is TBUM297592 or if you have local supply, any of these will work:

Tadiran TL-5186, OmniCel ER22G68 or Eve Energy ER22G68

P.S. If by chance you're NOT in Australia (seems your company's head office may be there) perhaps you're in North America. In any case here's how you can find appropriate Support assistance:

- Open a web browser and go to se.com

- Open the Support menu and select Contact Support

- Select your region of the world e.g. North America

- Then select your specific country or sub-region

- Scroll down and depending on region you'll be presented with a contact form or phone number to call

Understood.  I have posted to the USA support area, tried another couple of factory boots, and have a battery on order.
