Hi,

To add to Raj's answer, please find some more details.

Since T300 RTU configuration is located into PowerLogic HU250 module, you won't lose T300 "programs and settings" when replacing PS50 (except maybe, a few PS50 parameters).

Note: depending on the way T300 is installed in the substation, you may not need to cut the MV and LV power (however it is preferable to have no power on the incoming/ outgoing MV and LV cables). Also it would be a good idea to investigate why the PS50 failed as it is rare: it could be an installation issue - for instance PS50 earth lead is not correctly grounded.

Warning: to perform any maintenance on T300, you are supposed to have attended the relevant PowerLogic T300 training and to have the relevant safety training to your country/ organization. Only certified engineers are allowed to perform such tasks. Please confirm that is the case.
CAUTION: before doing anything, please make sure you are wearing all required protective equipment and that you are not at risk of safety hazard.

A) To dismount the existing PS50 unit:
a) disconnect PS50 battery cable
b) trip the ACB protecting PS50 AC supply input
c) trip all ACB protecting SC150/ SC160/ LV150 voltage measurement inputs
d) disconnect the earth lead from PS50
e) disconnect inter-modules Ethernet jumpers and inter-modules 12 Vdc supply cables
f) disconnect the Modbus RS-485 cable between HU250 and PS50, as well as the 12 Vdc power cables and HU250 DI5 digital input (if connected to PS50 digital output)
g) disconnect any Ethernet cables connected to HU250 Ethernet ports Eth1/ Eth2, and/ or HU250 4G modem 4G/GPS antennas (only if you are using HU50 optional 4G modem)
CAUTION: for safety reasons, DO NOT DISCONNECT SC15/ SC160/ LV150 CT CT cables, except if you can short-circuit the CT cables coming from the CTs or if the MV/LV substation is not powered by MV or LV
h) using a flat screwdriver, dismount HU250 and SC150/ SC160/ LV150 modules from PS50 DIN rail (without disconnecting any CT connection cables on SC150/SC160/LV150).
i) using a flat screwdriver, dismount the PS50 from the cabinet DIN rail

B) To mount a new PS50 unit, do the same steps but reverse:
a) mount the PS50 on the cabinet DIN rail and make sure it is solidly mounted
b) mount HU250 and SC150/ SC160/ LV150 modules from PS50 DIN rail
c) connect any Ethernet cables connected to HU250 Ethernet ports Eth1/ Eth2, and/ or HU250 4G modem 4G/GPS antennas
d) connect the Modbus RS-485 cable between HU250 and PS50, as well as the 12 Vdc power cables and HU250 DI5 digital input
e) connect inter-modules Ethernet jumpers and inter-modules 12 Vdc supply cables
f) close all ACB protecting SC150/ SC160/ LV150 voltage measurement inputs
g) connect the earth lead to PS50
h) close the ACB protecting PS50 AC supply input: T300 should power on
i) connect PS50 battery cable

For more information on T300 modules, please refer to PS50, HU250, SC150, SC160, and LV150 installation guides that you can find in Schneider web repository.

Hi again,

A typical case for a PS50 (or any power supply) to fail is when it is powered from an MV/LV potential transformer connected to two MV phases (e.g., L1 and L2).

The transformer is connected to the ground on the MV side but not on the LV side: so in case of an MV voltage surge, the earth current will flow through the PS50 instead of flowing on the transformer LV earth lead...

To avoid this, you have to connect the transformer LV side to the earth (or typically shunt it to the MV earth cable.

Hello @SESA528  Please shut down only the PS50 supply and ensure the connected battery is also removed from PS50, this will shutdown the T300 system including HU250 and Connected SC/LV Modules.

After this you can go for the replacement of the PS50.

This will not erase the T300 Program,

Make sure the Modbus address is same in the old and new device. I mean the Device ID set using the dial.

BR

Rajasekar
