Hello everyone,
In one project with Easergy T300 we have 4G modem (HU250 – 4G – GPS) as GPS synchronization device. We have a small antenna which came with modem. Is this antenna enough or we need additional?
If it is necessary do we need a SE antenna (EMS59161) or we can use some third party antenna? Which model and which characteristics that model of antenna need to have?
Thanks in advance,

Hello Milica,
yes, that's correct, you absolutely need 2 different antennas, one used for the GPS synchro and the other one for the 3G or 4G cellular data.
EMS59161 must be connected to the upper connector of HU250 for the GPS synchronization and has to be localized outdoor, with a direct view to the sky... and eventually a 3rd party antenna should make the job if it is dedicated for that frequency : 1575 MHz.
One important point, in case you are using cellular data, it's recommended also using the outdoor antenna (EMS59160) connected to the lower connector of HU250. In this case, it is possible also to synchronize the T300 with this antenna, using a SNTP server available inside your cellular network, if any. This synchronisation, using the cellular data is less accurate than using the GPS antenna which provide a 1 ms time synchronisation accuracy.
