I would like to suggest adding the Expand and Collapse functionality to the some of the program editors. Many text editors (and Word documents) have this facility, such that the editor recognizes a heading within the text and adds a +/- symbol to either expand and display all the text under the heading or hide the text (or code) under the heading and display only the heading.
I would like to see this feature added to The ST, IL and LD editors.
I believe this would be a huge benefit to creating well formatted and easy to navigate code. Imagine opening a section of code and just having a list of comment headings and then being able to click on the required heading and having the code in that area open, effectively this would provide an index into the section of code.
This could be implemented as part of a previous suggestion I made on improving the commenting, with a comment designated as a heading.
That is why you should hide the rarely looked at (read "less nice" if you want hehe) logic inside function blocks 🙂 And if you want to see it you expand the code inside them just right click and "refine" 🙂
But yes, I see some points with your suggestion too 🙂 But it inspired me to have another related wish for more structured coding but I write that in a new post I think...
