Currently BMENOC0301/311 modules can act only as NTP client. The suggestion is to implement NTP server functionality as well. I am using this modules to create isolated networks for DIO devices. Some of those devices have time synchronization capability but it is not feasible for me to install dedicated time server on all those networks. The best solution would be to use BMENOC0301/311 modules as NTP servers.
I can see some value in this. How would the NOC module(s) access the time server?
Would this be via the CPU, I.e. external time source is the ultimate server, the CPU is the client to this time server and then the NOC module is a client to the CPU but a server to each of the DIO loops?
Currently I am using my NOC311 module as NTP client to the time server in my control network. CPU synchronizes its time with the NOC (Update CPU time with this module option checked in NOC DTM).
I have another NOC311 module to create isolated network for DIO. I would imagine the second NOC (which should act as NTP server) should grab its time either from CPU or the first NOC.
