Hello Team,
Any experience with summing transformer ?
One of my customer wants to add summing transformer to connect to an energy counter.
Goal is to have one measurement point to have Power Delivered and Power Received (need a Modbus register to connect to a PLC in case of "Power Received" - no grid injection allowed).
Anyone has experienced this kind of config ?
Is it compatible with bidirectional power ?
Thanks for your help.

Hi,
If the loads distributed on the two lines are symmetrical and equal, this setup will work more reliably and accurately. All current transformers connected to the summation CT must be exactly the same type and rating.
If the loads are not equal, I would recommend using two separate energy analyzers instead of this method.
That said, your diagram is correct for equal system. Summation current transformers are typically used to combine signals from multiple CTs and to scale the output current to a level suitable for energy analyzers.
