Hi,
We have a ION 8650A for power quality measure, but it has stopped store data in load profile and others logs.
The only log that keeps storing is "meter events" and that is a overflow of registers like below, got from the .xml of Data Collection section in ION SETUP.
<ER pos="19704283" ts="2016-10-20T10:58:06.071Z" priority="255" cause="Diagnostics 1" causeValue="Information" effect="ION8650" effectValue="151" />

Reading the reference documentation I found that priority 255 means a critical failure, but whats the meaning of the effectValue 151 ??
Do we need to change the power meter or a firmware update will solve this issue??
Sorry for the bad english!

Hi Ezequiel,
It is unfortunate to hear that you are experiencing this issue on the meter. I am going to assume you are running a firmware prior to V004.020.000? I would normally suggest upgrading to this firmware. However, I think it is best that you open a tech support case with this issue and escalate this so that we can pull the diagnostic information out of the meter. It would be beneficial to see if we can determine the root cause.
This error can occur in a few ways, and we would be better to direct your answer as soon as we have the information!
Regards
Sanjeet

Try to see Diagnostics module BIST output if it is 151 you need factory reset though there is one reset push button hidden in the framework it did not reset . Some operation especially PQ framework did not complete at end of period it should be I found it causes by EN50160 frame work on ION8800B because unfortunately there was time change.

Hi,
We solve this problem updating the firmware to 4.20.001 and disabling every data recorder module log to "logmode = normal" instead of "high speed continuous". in ION Setup.
Thanks for your support!

Hello Sanjeet Sahota
We are experiencing the same issue in a ION8650A V403 meter, this meter stopped to register any value since Jul 17th until now, there is a way to retrieve the last days from the meter before to fix it (may be upgrading the firmware). Let me know please is very urgent. Thanks!.

Hi Adelmo Rodriguez
A couple of things I need to ask before I can give an answer..
1. What is the recording period of the data-recorders you are interested in? (Every 15 Minutes? 30? 5?) .
2. Has the meter been power-cycled since July 17th?
3. What method were you using before to retrieve data from the meter and have you already tried to get the data?
Regards,
Sanjeet

Hello Sanjeet Sahota
1. Basically Revenue Log and Hist Mean Log (recorded each 15 mins).
2. I don't know but I'll ask about that (do you recommend to power-cycle the meter?).
3. PME 7.2.2 we tried also with ION Setup with no results.

Hi Adelmo Rodriguez
Thanks for the info. Since you have already retrieved the last data logs, anything after July 17th is unavailable unfortunately. Power-cycling will remove it from this state and continue on to function normally. I do recommend upgrading to the latest firmware as we have a check in place to ensure that most data is retained in these conditions. Furthermore, I would suggest opening a support ticket so that we can store the diagnostic information from the meter.

Sanjeet

Hello Sanjeet Sahota,
What triggered this condition? Is a firmware/framework or harware issue?. We have another 30 x 8650's in this customer, what is the probability to this happens to the remain meters?
Best Regards,
Adelmo

The issue at this time is still under investigation. We have not determined the root cause of the issue at this time, but have made improvements to help alleviate conditions in which this could potentially occur. Furthermore, in FW V4.20 we have added a detection for this error that will cause the meter to respond to the condition and save the data and return the meter to its operational state through a power-cycle.
The likelihood of this occurring is still unmeasured as after power-cycling your meter, this symptom may never occur again. So for the other 30 meters your customer currently has, they may never see this issue. Again as mentioned, however, it is best to upgrade to the latest firmware if possible to minimize data loss in the future.
Regards,
Sanjeet
