PM8000 Onboard pulse Input for water

I have a pulse input connected to a PM 8000 meter onboard input. I used the ION setup to configure the water meter in the setup assistant/ Onboard I/O/Digital Inputs and the Energy applications (see attached picture).  My readings have been zero for couple days, so I am not sure if something else has to be changed in the ION setup software.

The pulse input is from a badger meter/Recordall water meter.

Any suggestions?

The S1 input of the PM8000 will register "ON" when:
1) a voltage between 4V and 30V is applied

and
2) the voltage source can maintain this range while providing approx 2mA of current

The polarity setup register inverts this behavior.

If your watermeter pulse output is a dry-contact, you must provide an external compatible wetting voltage source.

One common technique is to use a current limited source (or add appropriately rated external resistance) that can tolerate output short circuit.

In ION Setup, you can put the meter into advanced setup, take a look at the Counter modules You see something like Input Metering or IM. Open the module and shift click the out tab, this should give some information. Can also repeat this test or other counters.

I see that the SourceID is "300", was it your intention to call the device "300", or are you trying to link this data to a device name in Power Monitoring Expert that has ID 300 in one of the tables?

I checked the counter modules window in the ION advanced window, and I don't see anything wrong. The only part that I am not sure is the IM1 Pulse wt,; the input is  1 pulse/100 gallons, but in the ION setup manual says Pulse wt = 1/100 = 0.01 … is this right?

Yes, I have to bring them into the  PME, but it is creating a new device called 300 instead 300Admin because the ID is limited to 4 characters.... It doesn't matter if I can use them in dashboards and reports. Do you know a way to attached this register to a device in PME.

See attached pictures for the ION setup.

Thanks

Hello @mmolina_advance ,

When you say you do not see anything wrong, does that mean you are seeing the pulses getting counted? I'll need to look into the pulse weight again. You are correctly following the user guide steps.

You could look into using the logical device in PME to map the registers from the meter to a device in PME dashboards.

Regards,

Charles

We connected a meter to the PM8000 here in the office, and the S1 count is not increasing. We contacted the badger meter (Recordall), and we added an external power supply and a Pull-up resistor, but we cannot see any pulses in the meter....Do you have any experience with this kind of badger meter?
