PM5110 Pulsed Output Pulse Period (Seconds) - Issue

Good afternoon guys

Does anybody know how to calculate the pulse period on the digital output terminal of the above meter?

In the user guide i can see 25Hz is the maximum pulse frequency so does this mean 1/25 or 0.04 seconds is the pulse period ?

I am having an issue where we have tried 3 meters connected to a BMS and we have configured the meter as follows

Pulse Mode - Energy

Channel - Active Del

Pulse - 1Pulse/kWh

LED is set to the following

Pulse Mode - Energy

Channel - Active Del

Pulse - 1Pulse/kWh

The digital output has  volts input from the BMS but we are seeing no output

Is there anything you could advise that i am doing wrong?

Regards

Casey

I have had a similar problem after swapping out a PM700P for a PM5110.

All I could get from technical support was that it must be a short pulse (by my calcs, 25Hz at 50% duty is 20 ms on and 20 ms off).

The PM700P allowed the pulse length to be programmed from a choice of values including 300 ms, which is long enough to see on a multimeter display when testing, and also be detected by most types of BMS input.

The PM5110 does not seem to have this feature, AND does not allow programming for say 1 pulse per 10 kWh, only 1 or more pulses per 1 kWh.

I know most new meters are connected using modbus, but we really need a new model of meter that can be used to directly replace a faulty old model with the same pulse count functionality.

Outputs

Digital output

Max load voltage 40 V DC

Max load current 20 mA

On Resistance 50 Ω max

Meter constant

from 1 to 9,999,999 pulses per k_h (k_h = kWh,

kVARh or kVAh depending on the energy parameter

selected)

Pulse width for Digital Output 50% duty cycle

Pulse frequency for Digital Output 25 Hz max.

Leakage current 0.03 micro Amps

Isolation 5 kV rms

Optical outputs

Pulse width (LED) 200 s

Pulse frequency 50 Hz. max.

Meter constant from 1 to 9,999,999 pulses per k_h

Is there an update from technical support on this?

We have hundreds of PM700P and PM750 meters installed with just a pulse output to a BMS controller, and some of them get damaged or fail so need replacing.

As reported above, the PM5110 has been tried but has a very short pulse length so does not suit all BMS pulse count inputs.

My research on the PM53xx range has found parameters to change the pulse length on the digital outputs, but the outputs cannot be configured for Energy only Alarms.

Does anyone know of a new model of meter (panel facia mounted) that can provide a pulse output of at least 300 ms for energy consumption?

If not, can the firmware in the PM5110 be updated to allow adjustment of the pulse length as was included on the older PM700P and PM750 meters?
