Meters Damaged by Storm

Hello everyone.

One of our clients recently experienced an issue due to a lightning storm, during which several energy meters (PM800 and PM5560) were damaged and had to be replaced. Additionally, the serial communication of the EBX510 was also affected.
The facility is equipped with surge protection systems, but we would like to know what other measures you recommend to help prevent this type of issue from happening again.
Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

Best Regards.

Hello @Veronika.Salinas There could be multiple contributing factors. We're not certain whether it was a direct lightning strike to the building or to the metering panel. It might be a good idea to conduct an on-site inspection to assess the situation.

We need to ensure the proper selection and installation of Surge Protection Devices (SPDs) in the distribution board, as well as lightning arresters and effective grounding at the site. Even if these components are correctly chosen and installed, regular maintenance remains essential to ensure continued protection.
