ION 9000 reporting to multiple clients on IEC61850 and ION protocols

Hello All,

I have a requirement in a project to report to multiple clients, 2 clients on ION protocol and 1 on IEC61850. can METSEION95040 do this. I have attached the schematic for better understanding.

Can this configuration work? If not what is best alternative option (other protocols with ION protocol)

architecture for multiple client reporting on different protocols.jpg

Hello @AMB ,

to your direct question, yes ION 9000 meters can have multiple simultaneous connections. I believe the user guide would help to define the full limitation. But meter can support 2 ION connections a nd 1 IEC61850 connection.

One item to note, in your diagram it is not clear if the client machines are talking directly to the meter or to the PME srever. If the clients are talking to PME and PME is talking to the meter technically the meter would only have 1 ION connection and one IEC61850 connection.

Regards,

Charles

Hello Charles,

Thanks for the support, As there are some changes in the design now the requirement from the customer is as follows.

ION 95040 would be reporting to

a) 1 PME server through ION protocol

b) 3 clients through IEC61850

Kindly could you let me know if ION95040 can communicate and report as per above requirements.

Regards,
