I have three ION 7550 RTU meters connected and I cannot create a backup through ION Setup.
In the first one, when I connect, the setup assistant option does not appear, so I cannot access the meter information and know what firmware version it has.
With the others, the setup assistant window appears but when I make the backup and it is about to finish saving the template, Windows stops working and closes the ION Setup application. The latter have the same firmware version 3.71. I already repeated the process several times and in all of them it is the same.
I have more meters connected such as ION9000, ION7650 and with all of them I can make backups, only with the ones that are RTU I have a problem
Any advice on what it could be?

Hi Charles.
I have managed to solve the setup assistant problem by following your steps.
For the other meters, when creating the backup and giving me the error, a 1KB file was created, I had tried to do it again but replacing the file and it didn't work, so I tried the backup again but now overwriting the damaged file and that solved the problem.
I was able to fix it but I still don't know what the root cause is, technical support is helping me with that.

For topic 1) "Setup assistant option does not appear" Can you right click on the RTU in the left panel and select properties, then select display tab. Choose an option to "hard code" what setup assistant ION Setup with use. Another thing to check is in the bottom left corner you may get a message about not being able to connect to the device. If you get that message it means ION Setup is not able to talk to the meter. Wil need to troubleshoot the communications. If you need help with that troubleshooting I suggest reaching out to your local technical support.
2) "DCF save to PC crashes ION Setup" - A little hard to troubleshoot this one over the forum. Do you have the latest version of ION Setup? I suggest reaching out to your local technical support for troubleshooting. They may want a copy of the system log.
With ION Setup closed, I suggest making a backup of or renaming SYSTEM.LOG. Then perform the activity that crashes ION Setup then include the file when you contact support.
