Dear Exchange colleagues,
I need your suggestion and support about ZBRN1 (Zigbee concentrator Modbus TCP).
I used ZBRN1 to connect with ABB SCADA 800XA. It was working fine in first 3 days, we can read sensors value and various registers. But after that, unfortunately, the SCADA or even direct LAN connection between laptop and ZBRN1 is not available anymore. I had to reset ZBRN1 and then it worked again for few days and failed afterward.
After some investigation, we discover:
1. On direct connect (via LAN between laptop and ZBRN1), I can ping it and get good response.
2. When use Modbus read software, it shows error code 6 (client is busy) and can't read any registers.
3. On SCADA the temperature registers show 3277.... (I guess it's N/A return value).
4. Topology-wise, the ZBRN1 connected to SCADA via PLC which has read interval of 3 seconds.
5. On ZBRN1 itself, there is no Error Code shown, communication LED is not lit, ZBRCETH LED no.1 flashing green while no.2 and 3 are solidly green.
Best regards,

Hi Anet,
Did you find a solution to this issue? I may have a customer experiencing the same thing.

Hi Eric
We did a reboot of the ZBRN1 unit at my customers site (power off - power on) and then the problem was solved. I haven't heard any complaints from the customer since that.

Hi Eric,
I just revisit this post and see your reply.
The original case is solved by replacing both ZBRN1+ZBRCETH.
Now I have new project which again using ZBRN1+ZBRCETH and the problem appeared. Not sure if you have solution for this ?
The symptom are:
- The device is working fine for weeks. Then one day its register can't be read (by ModScan and PME) but it still ping-able.
- ModScan return error request timed out
- Power-Off / On help to solve this issue for a while but it will happen again

Hi Lars,
I just revisit this post and see your reply.
Do your problem still persist or completely solved by just Power Off / On ?

Hello
We know this issue and we have one action plan to solve it.
Some customer like you have this issue and others never. It's hard to reproduce this defect.
Could you describe exactly what is your configuration (Type of sensors and channels used)
We hope a new firmware middle of april.

Hi Eric,
We have not had any issues at our customer site. Our customer has 28 pieces TH110 installed in a panel, but the panel is only energized a few times each month. I suspected that the ZBRN device goes into hibernation if there is no activity, so we installed a CL110 sensor at site also.
I have on idea if this is what did the trick, but no complaints from customer since.
Best regards, Lars

Hi Eric,
I have 30 set of ZBRN1+ZBRCETH and sensors are mixed between TH110 and CL110. Those are connected to customer switch and pulling data by PME. You may see attached system architecture as reference.
There are only 2 set still working properly while the rest need to be Off/On to work again for a while. All 30 ZBRCETH have firmware 2.3.x.x (I can't remember exact number). I tried to downgrade all to 2.5.2.7 but still problem remain unsolved. Moreover, all ZBRN1 firmware is v3.32.

Hi Eric,
We have been using two ZBRN1 since early 2022 and we have had this problem on both.
When the Modbus/TCP stops working we are still able to ping the IP:s but the only thing to get it to work again is to toggle the power.
We are running firmware v3.32.
Do you have any news on when the new firmware will be available?
Regards, Stefan

Hi Eric
I was just informed by our customer that the problem persist. They have to regularly reboot the ZBRN32 to get communication to work. I hope it can be fixed with a firmware update. Look forward to hearing from you again.

Hello
We decided to provide a beta version for the ZBRN1 FW >=3.26.
This new version have a new "mechanism" to avoid the issue around Modbus communication issue (No response at the Modbus request/ping operational).
This version is not completely validated but we did main tests.
If you encounter any issue you can downgraded to V3.32 (Actual official version)
To avoid any "anarchic" diffusion of this version I can provide to you by email the link to download.
For the interested people provide me your email (By private message) and the short describe of the installation and I provide the link for you.
