RESTful API driver

It would be really nice if it was natively possible to retrieve some simple data from RESTful API endpoints.

This would typically be something of the likes of:

HTTP(S)://{hostname}/api/getPointData/{pointname}

which would then return an JSON formatted result

The JSON result could be 'parsed' in a similar fashion to the likes of the SparkPlug driver which has been made available.

Whilst SIs could create such a driver, it is difficult to get this adopted by end-users, and it requires more complicated support in regards to upgrade processes etc.

Having it all native to the product, and with driver updates shipped alongside the Geo SCADA server components would provide he best end-user experience.

This product has supported wide automation interface support with the .NET API and the automation interface DLL. I think this is a modern extension of those two technologies that will make managing a remote Geo SCADA server easier if they ever develop an edge version of the product. Making this sorts of REST API calls is becoming more common in the OT space.

@du5tin You might have misinterpreted my request.  I'm requesting a driver here.  Something that could be configured to connect to a 3rd Party RESTful interface, and retrieve point data from that 3rd Party interface.

There is already the SOAP interface to Geo SCADA Expert which does allow for a more platform agnostic accessibility into Geo SCADA Expert.  I do agree that a RESTful interface would probably be a nicer fit in general for Geo SCADA Expert however.
